|What is "Alnwick"?||
Alnwick Castle is located in Northumberland in the United Kingdom. It is the ancestral home of the Duke of Northumberland, and one of the most beautiful castles in England. Alnwick Castle is famous as the setting for Hogwarts school in the Harry Potter series of books and movies.
Alnwick is also the name of the town which the castle overlooks – it is known as one of the prettiest towns in the UK and a must on any tourist’s itinerary if you are going to Northumberland.
Alnwick is one of those devilish English names that does not conform to reason. The ‘l’ and the ‘w’ are silent, you rhyme it with ‘panic’.
The castle is open to the public, and has a regular schedule of activities, such as ‘Broomstick Training’ for Harry Potter fans, and Medieval Crafts and Dressing up for those with a more historical bent.
