What is "cenci"?

‘Cenci’ are a pastry made from dough which is loosely knotted, then deep-fried and sprinkled with icing sugar. ‘Cenci’ means ‘tatters’ in Italian. Don’t confuse it with ‘ceci‘ which are ‘chick-peas’.
