| What is "Gamay"? | Gamay is a red grape variety associated with Beaujolais. Gamay is grown in a few regions of France, but not extensively world-wide. According to Wikipedia, cultivation of this grape was once banned in France, which is fine with me after an encounter with a particularly brutal Gamay which gave me the worst heart-burn of my life. Like a burned child who fears the fire, I have shied away from Gamay ever since. If you know more about it, or feel my prejudice is unreasonable, please comment away. |
