What is "pilaf"?
A ‘pilaf’ is a dish based on rice – the basic recipe is your brown the rice with some onion and butter and oil, add stock and cook it until half-done, then you add vegetables, and meat – depending on the recipe. A pilaf (also known as a ‘pilau’) always has spices added for flavour. The dish is often moulded and turned out for better presentation.
